چکیده
Abstract A number of destructive and non-destructive tests were conducted on rock samples collected from various zones in northern Iraq. So far, for Iraqi rocks, few studies have correlated Schmidt hammer rebound ( R ) with both unconfined compressive strength (UCS) Brazilian tensile (BTS). In this study, the objective is to develop a relationship between surface hardness (rebound number) BTS different types rocks. The required should be based measured values UCS, BT, hardness. To determine UCS BTS, 120 intact prepared tested using uniaxial test machine, apparatus, an L-type Three (sandstone, claystone, limestone) several locations Iraq (Domeez, Baadra, Zawita). For three new linear correlation high value regression coefficient 2 presented, linking separately versus . rocks studied, better than (BTS)

Application of Soft Computing Methods for the Estimation of Roadheader Performance from Schmidt Hammer Rebound Values
Estimation of roadheader performance is one of the main topics in determining the economics of underground excavation projects. The poor performance estimation of roadheader scan leads to costly contractual claims. In this paper, the application of soft computing methods for data analysis called adaptive neuro-fuzzy inference system- subtractive clustering method (ANFIS-SCM) and artificial neu...

In this paper, after collecting the rock samples from eight mines and one high way slope, the tests for determination of dry density, Uniaxial Compressive Strength, tensile Strength (Brazilian Test), elastic modulus, Schmidt hammer rebound number have been done on samples. In addition, in order to calculating the mean size of rock grains, quartz content, hardness and abrasivity, a thin sections...
متن کاملApplication of Schmidt rebound number for estimating rock strength under specific geological conditions
A literature review revealed that most of the empirical equations introduced for determination of the uniaxial compressive strength (UCS) of rocks based on the Schmidt hammer rebound number (N) are not sufficiently reliable mostly due to the relatively low coefficient of correlations. This is attributed to the fact that in most cases one formula is used for all types of rocks, altho...

متن کاملAnalysis of Impact Hammer Rebound to Estimate Rock Drillability
In this paper, the piston rebound common to both the Schmidt Impact Hammer and downhole hammer drills has been analyzed and calculated by means of stress wave theory and the energy conservation law. A quantitative relationship between the amount of rebound of the piston and the impact resistance index, or hardness of the rock, has been established. Those analytical results will not only be of b...
